Have questions?
With more than half a century of faithful service to our neighbors, we’ve learned a few things and are always happy to share what we know.
Can I paint my tank?
The short answer is yes, however, why paint your tank if we will do it? We only use a safe aluminum based and reflective paint as recommended by our industry. We prefer to use aluminum base and color for its rust inhibitor and reflective qualities. Milton Propane regularly inspects our tanks, ensuring they are safe and in good appearance.
Can I paint my propane tank any color I want?
If you own your tank, you may choose to pick a colored paint but it must be a be a heat reflective color and enamel based for metal applications. For those reasons, we must approve of the color and paint selection before painting. If you wish for us to paint your tank a different color, simply call for color approval. We require the customer to provide the paint and it must meet our safety standards. Labor rates may apply for customer owned tanks.
What do I do if my tank is rusted?
We can inspect, clean and paint the tank as described above if needed.
How do I dispose of an old propane cylinder or tank?
If you have a small propane cylinder you are no longer using (ex. – a gas grill cylinder), you can always drop those off to one of our facilities and we will dispose of them properly at no charge. If you have a larger cylinder you cannot transport or have a bulk propane tank you do not need, please contact one of our branch locations and we can see if we can help you dispose of the tank safely.
Will a scrap yard accept my old unused propane tank?
This is not the recommended approach as you want to ensure the disposal is done safely and properly. Again, please contact us to discuss your options on safe disposal of any unused propane tanks.
